On Saturday, July 31st, Liz Canter and other representatives from NiteLite were handling out information packs about the safety of Southport at night.
Nightlifes goal of making people in Southport town centre feel safe and be safe has been worked towards since spring 2002. Nightlife surveyed 464 people regarding safety and found that generally people felt safe but there were still many improvements that could be made.
Some of the improvements that have already happened are:-
* The use of a radiolink between doorstaff of different pubs & clubs to keep known troublemakers out.
* The fitting of CCTV cameras in and around the town centre (24 cameras now cover previous hot spots).
* High visibility policing and foot patrols
