Jobsfair success

11th September was a positive occasion for many Jobseekers living in and around Southport.
The day saw many of the area's better known employers descend on the Prince of Wales Hotel on Lord Street, where they looked to fill around 200 local vacancies.
Visitors on the day met representatives from the likes of Marks and Spencer, TK Maxx and Southport NHS Trust to name just a few.
They also had the opportunity to find out about jobs at the new Ocean Plaza development.

Organised by Jobcentre Plus, the event catered for the wider jobs market - from people looking to earn some extra cash over the festive period, to those seeking a longer-term career move.
Specialist Jobcentre advisers were available to give advice on a wide range of employment related matters.

With a diverse mixture of permanent, seasonal, full and part time vacancies available on the day, there was something for anyone looking for work.

Bryan Fleming from Jobcentre Plus, said:
"The jobsfair really is a 'must' for anyone in need of a job - be they unemployed people, students or those looking to return to the labour market after a long absence."
Bryan added: "This event follows the success of last year's Jobsfair. We're anticipating an even better turnout this year, and hope to unite even more local jobseekers with those companies who require staff."

The Jobsfair ran from 10am to 4pm.

If you missed out on the jobsfair you can still enquire about local vacancies at Southport Jobcentre (68b Eastbank Street).
Alternatively, you can telephone Jobseeker Direct on 0845 6060 234 between 9am and 6pm Monday to Friday (Saturdays until 1pm), or search online at www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk
